New old stock. Comes with original box and packaging. Never displayed. This original vintage JOHNSON CONTROLS Paperweight Award was made by Popular Science Magazine! It is made out of clear Lucite and weighs approx. 8.7 ounces. It features a Johnson Controls' Energizer EverStart Battery on one side and "Popular Science Magazine The Best of What's New" on the other side. It measures approx. 3-3/4" Across x 3-1/4" Tall x 1-1/4" Wide. See pictures for details and condition. Pictures taken with and without flash. Ask questions before you offer/buy. The December 27, 1989 edition of the Johnson Controls newsletter Briefing reported that the company-made Energizer EverStart battery was honored by the editors of Popular Science magazine as one of the 100 greatest achievements in science and technology and new products for their 1989 “Best of What’s New” issue.

Thebattery was selected as a winner in the automotive technology category because of its revolutionary design, which included a backup battery for emergency starts within the same standard-size case as the primary battery. The back-up battery could also be used in tandem with the main battery for starts on extremely cold days.
