    NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION & HISTORY

An original primary-source publication from theLos Angeles Times(Sunday,October 22,1961),documenting the early expansion of digital computing and Southern California's Cold War aerospace boom.

The section is equally notable as an untouched primary document of pre-Title VII workplace labor history, published under the era's segregated "Help Wanted — Women" and "Help Wanted — Men" headers, illustrating the earliest roles for women in punch-card data processing, systems tabulation, and technical defense assembly.
