This BOSTON & MAINE CONDUCTOR hat badge is in as found condition. No hallmark. Measures approximately 3 3/4\" wide and 1 3/16\" high. Sold with two brass fasteners. The Boston & Maine Railroad officially ended its 141 years of passenger service on December 31, 1986.While the B&M had discontinued long-distance intercity passenger routes by 1965, it continued running commuter rail operations around Boston under contract. That final chapter of passenger operations ended when the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) shifted its commuter rail contract from the B&M to Amtrak at the end of December 1986 making this badge at least 40 years old.Please see photographs.
