  • The USS Altair was an experimental starship, launched in the 24th century which was 323 meters long. The shape was very different from the standard designs of the saucer/nacelle configuration for Star Fleet vessels. The Altair had a triangular primary hull which sat on top of a pronged secondary hull. The ships most unusual feature, aside from its shape, was its temporal core. In addition to a standard warp core, the Altair was able to make 15 minute jumps forward and backward in time. The design and engineering aspect of the Altair were carried over into the 26th century and the Enterprise J.
