This is a self ballasted BULB which means it can go in a regular USA household light socket (NOT the big odd mogul size that many others are) and needs no external ballast transformer. Just screw it in and in and go! The technology is such that a filament heats up an internal sealed gas chamber which then lights up a much brighter whiter light than standard incandescent bulbs (and closer to sunlight with some UV range, for tanning, germ killing/disinfecting, paint curing, etc) Being standard socket you can use in many types of holders including clamp on heat lamps, chicken warmer lamps, or even a standard porcelain light socket. (would not recommend a plastic desk lamp or anything that can melt from heat ) Will be well packed for shipping!
