Ebonyte is an Asian-inspired line of Melmac dinnerware designed by Kaye LaMoyne in the 1940\'s and produced by Hellmich Manufacturing prior to the Branchell Company\'s formal establishment in St. Louis, Missouri in 1952. A noted industrial designer, LaMoyne was born in 1918 in Topeka, Kansas and studied design and color at an art school in Chicago. The International Museum of Dinnerware Design currently owns 142 examples of Ebonite melamine dinnerware in vibrant red and black, many with bamboo handles and the hand-painted Chinese characters zhen wei which can be translated as \"good taste\".
\"What is the purpose of buying vintage if you want it to look new?\"
We do not clean vintage items and leave that to the discretion of the buyer. All vintage items will show signs of wear consistent with age, as should be expected.
We consider \"vintage\" to be 25+ years old (from late 1990\'s or before), and \"antique\" to be 100+ years old (from mid 1920\'s or before).
Please see all photos for complete description. My phone case is red and reflects as red/pink/orange in some photos. Pictures taken with and without flash.
All listings are sold as-is and all \"reasonable\" offers will be considered.
