This is our very own, updated, EASY printed circuit board assembly version, of the famous Radio Shack Science Fair 3, transistor shortwave radio receiver kit of the 1960s and 1970s, that so many people built, it is not an original vintage kit.

Three transistor regenerative circuit design, with optional fourth transistor, see below. The insert listed the frequency range as 2 - 30 MHz, and the instructions list them as 4.5 - 50 MHz. The tuning range is divided into six bands, by changing an air would coil. The coils are wound around an AA battery as a winding form.

We have added the following optional circuit additions - improvements for the advanced experimenter. The kit can be built stock as the original design, or any/all of the following can be implemented.

- RF buffer amplifier transistor
- DIP switch band selection
- Varactor fine tuning
- LM386 speaker drive output

Kit comes with ALL parts for stock construction, AND parts for all circuit additions. All silicon transistor design. Kit includes speaker, earphone not included. Requires an ordinary 9-volt battery, not included. Minor/normal part substitutions may occur. High quality fiberglass circuit board. Single sided design without plated through holes, so it is easy for the beginner to solder and unsolder. Includes nylon hardware for board support, which will not scratch surfaces. The board has rounded corners, and you can wrap colored tape around it (not supplied), to give it an enclosure look. Comes with instructions including parts list, schematic, assembly and operating notes. Instructions are supplied on a CD-R. Ships by First Class Mail in a padded envelope.
