The Emerson 555 "All American" represents one of the first -- if not the first -- American- made transistor radio to incorporate reverse painted plastic into transistor radio design, a fad that had already popularized Japanese radios. The 555 features a slab of reverse painted plastic covering the entire back of the cabinet, and a beautiful tuning dial.

This example is near mint cosmetically, and comes in the Emerson gift box, including the near mint leatherette carrying case, which is very hard to find in this condition. The earphone is also included in its plastic clamshell case (which has a hard time fitting into the cardboard slot in the box). The plastic pull-tab battery holder is included. The radio works, but very very weakly. (I am talking hold it up to your ear at max volume weak.)

Ihave been collecting transistor radios and TVsfor more than 25 years, and am now "thinning" my collection. Most arelike new in the box, so keep an eye on my sales!
