This is a very fine instrument built to the best of HP standards, which says a lot. In my opinion these analyzers are terribly over-priced considering the downsides. The 3585A has a huge and very loud cooling fan, so much so that I find using the analyzer distracting and unpleasant. The unit is also fantastically heavy, at around 100 lbs and a full two feet deep. You would need a huge and remarkably sturdy workbench to accommodate it, and then three people to lift it in place. The frequency range extends to 30 MHz, of course very limited by modern standards. You may feel this is OK if you are working on, for example, HF receivers and filters. On the other hand if you want to look at harmonics of a HF ham transmitter operating at 10 meters or a CB transmitter you are out of luck.
