does it work... yes. is it any better than the screwdriver test... maybe. tried it on both new transformers and ignitors and the green light lit right away. then tried it on a known weak transformer and the green light lit. tried it on a questionable ignitor and the green light lit, ended up replacing that ignitor anyway, so maybe , maybe not
