1933-1934 World’s Fair POLICE PRESENTATION Art Deco KENMORE DELUXE VACUUM CLEANER

This listing is for an original 1934 Kenmore De Luxe vacuum cleaner that was presented by Sears to Lourie Schondorf, the wife of Lt E. J. Schondorf of the Century of Progress Police Command. There is an engraved brass presentation plaque on the front with the 1934 World’s Fair Comet Arcturus logo and the dome of the Sears Building. Sears was based in Chicago and took pride in promoting their products at the World’s Fair. The first time I saw this vacuum cleaner was about 30 years ago as part of Jim Moran’s collection when it was displayed upstairs at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum in Auburn Indiana. The vacuum has a maximum width of approximately 13 ¼” and the handle stands 45” high. I plugged it in and the motor started when I flipped the switch on the handle. The condition is VF with an electrical tape repair to the grip on the handle (looks like a small piece is broken off & covered). Otherwise there is just light wear from storage. Art Deco vacuum cleaners are very scarce and this one is a unique corporate presentation piece to the wife of a World’s Fair Police commander. Please look at all the photos and ask any questions.
