Here's a beautiful, working S.G. Brown "Microphone Amplifier" manufactured in London in the early 1920's.
These compact, elegant, brilliantly engineered tubeless amplifiers were designed to provide a single stage of audio amplification for crystal sets (see the video posted above), but they can also be used for one-tube radios that lack an amplifying transformer.
Condition of the amp is excellent, as you can see in the pictures. Cabinet finish is original, lid card is original, all hardware and fittings are original. When connected to an appropriate input source and 6v DC, the amplifier will power a pair of headphones or a sensitive, high impedance 1920's horn.
I'm one of 's best known, most highly regarded sellers of antique radios, and I specialize in radios from the 1920's.I've been selling and shippingthem for more than 25 years. When you purchase an antique radio from me, you'll receive a radio that arrives safely because it's been carefully packed (byme, not by some well-intentioned but nonetheless confounded, doe-eyed teenager working at the UPS store who wouldn't know a radio from a rocket ship), Sure, you can probably get a lower price from Joe and Janet Barn-Find, but when your "bargain" arrives broken, and without any hint of how you might be able to put it back together, you'll realize that you really do get exactly what you pay for.
